March for Science--Co-opts Earth Day

Imagine my chagrin when I learned that the scientific community decided to co-opt Earth Day Gatherings by holding a March for Science. How audacious for  the collective that is behind much of what ails Mother Earth to do this.

Thanks to science we have the capability to blow up the world with nuclear weapons and stockpiles of nuclear waste, they have created drilling technologies that have allowed us to extract all sorts of things and punctured and scarred Mother Earth, thanks to  petrochemicals we have  plastic bags that have formed large pools in our oceans, radio/TV/WiFi/and other rays are microwaving Mother Earth to death, we have GMO's, genetic engineering and cloning abilities, science has created digital technology that is addicting us, etc....As I have said many times, Technology Kills and Technology is science's Frankenstien.

Science is keen to point out the benefits of their discoveries such as antibiotics. But in the process they have created SuperBugs that are much worse. That is the problem with technology. the result of their cure, or benefit is ultimately outweighed by the price.

Something more nefarious may be at work. It is too early to tell.

It appears that the Nature Conservancy is the sponsoring organization behind the March for Science.
The Nature Conservancy is a sponsoring partner for the March for Science in Washington, D.C., to be held in partnership with the Earth Day Network, on Earth Day, April 22.

I refer you back to my post od 10.21/16  The Anthropocene Epoch and the Conquest of Mother Earth In it I talk about E O Wilson's new book Half Earth and the New Conservation movement.

Peter M. Kareiva a leading light of the "New Conservation Movement' who became chief scientist of the Nature Conservancy in 2014 Describing him as "the leader of those that attack the existence of the wilderness...because there are no pristine areas left on Earth....regions occupied long ago should be opened up for management and profit according to Kareiva."page 77

Later in speaking of the Nature Conservancy he notes that biodiversity has faded and its now about what nature can do for people and the economy.  page 134

SO WE NEED TO WONDER IF THE MARCH OF SCIENCE CO-OPTING EARTH IS REALLY ABOUT TURNING THE ENVIRONMENTAL MOVEMENT FROM FOCUSING ON SAVING MOTHER EARTH TO FINDING MORE AND IMPROVED WAYS TO EXPLOIT HER.

I strongly urge you to read about the New Conservation because it sure seems like they are against Tree Huggers such as myself, as represented by the Nature Conservancy's Perl Kareiva whom are trying to a upend things and turn the Environmental Movement into a movement to exploit. Do a Google search.

Soule critique of the New Conservation.

Surrender to Development
