Sacred Sites Update--MULLER HILL, GEORGETOWN, NY

I had a chance to visit Muller Hill, Georgetown, NY (pages 165-175, Sacred Sites in North Star Country: Places in Greater New York State (PA,OH,NJ,CT,MA,VT, ONT) That Changed the World) earlier today. A very positive and joyful experience, with lots of good news. The space is more than held up and has definitely picked up in some places--the Vibe, vortices, new areas,.....

I should have known that parts of Muller Hill Road would be covered with snow and ice; forget the streak of very warm weather. So I had to walk a ways to get to the sacred area.

The vibe is still very, very sweet. I immediately felt uplifted and a little blissed out  as soon as I stepped into the sacred area. The vibe of the Welcome Circle was very positive, to extremely positive.Very nice considering it experiences traffic.

I was surprised to find the Glen above not submerged under water but it seemed that the ground was firm and maybe even still frozen in parts. The energy burst I had been feeling in previous visits next to the prayer stone above is coming from at least one Earth Chakra.

There were still parts with lots of snow, as much as foot deep. Who would have thought it, given the warm weather we have had.

It was a blessing to find that a new vortex has formed on the Holy Ridge. In the picture above the dogs are in the vortex. This is the first station on the Holy Ridge and you are looking towards the Back Woods.

The location of the vortex is interesting. As I noted in Vortices and Spirals the location of a vortex can an indicator of the size of sacred site, of special areas.....Very interesting because none of us has meditated or prayed there.

Just up ahead of the first station is a vortex ring/vortex marked by the large flat prayer stone on the left; it is on a hump, or slight rise. I assume the rise is from a downed tree--but the pile rocks on the right may indicate that perhaps there is a stone pile underneath.

Here is where I meditated. It is located about 50 feet from the big hemlock pictured above going towards the Back Woods in the gnarly area.

What's there? I really don't know. Some aspect of Mother Earth associated with Fields of Consciousness. As I have noted on several occasions as you begin to perform spiritual practices in earnest and with no religious baggage (karma) the land and Mother Earth begins to reveal itself, just as we progress in our spiritual transformation revelation begins to appear.

Three vortices in the area of the first station on the Holy Ridge, New areas and aspects, and a great vibe in a warm and welcoming neighborhood.

Wow. I did not have time to fully explore. But what I found was very positive and a blessing. I thank God and Mother Earth for the bounty that has been bestowed upon us at Muller.

Thank you.

Peacemaker's Sanctuary Facing Spring Floods

On my way to speak at the Seneca Falls and Canandaigua Libraries on Saturday I drove by Willow Bay at Onondaga Lake and tit appeared more flooded than usual. The stretch of several 60° days and torrential rains on Saturday raised concerns that the farthest bench at the Peacemaker's Sanctuary was vulnerable to being swept away.

There were several trees that had fallen on the Stairway to Heaven section of the Lakeland Trail, but it was surprisingly not flooded.

Water was close to the main bench, but it was clear of water.

You can see the second bench in the distance. Water blocked access to it.

Closer inspection of the farthest bench shows that the legs are in water, but the rope I used to secure it by tying it to the tree behind it was not taut. So there had been no pressure by the water to move it.

Safe and secure, at least for now.

I ddid some work on the Welcome Circles and briefly meditated on the first bench. Nice.

Unsung Hero of North Star County Gerrit Smith Featured

Ever since I began scouring upstate NY for sacred sites fifteen years ago I am continually reminded of the area's rich history of reform, social justice and spirituality. One of its unsung hero's was Gerrit Smith of Peterboro, a leading activist and rich philanthropist that funded many causes and people.

Gerrit Smith's Peterboro estate was listed as a sacred site in my original listing of sacred sites and is included in my book Sacred Sites in North Star Country, Places in Greater New York State That Changed the World.

I mention this because Smith was  featured in WAER's most recent segment on the Underground Railroad in Upstate New York. The feature details  the enormity of Smith's contribution to reform efforts to make a better world in North Star Country.

Listen and be amazed, and ask yourself, "Why Have I never heard of this man?"

Gobind Sadan (Central Square,) Saturday Evening 6PM, Meditation and Birthday Celebration

What:  Baba Virsa Singh's Birthday Celebration at Gobind Sadan

                                     And

                              Meditation

When:  Saturday, February 25,

6 PM Meditation--Open meditation & Guided Meditation to Experience Consciousness

7 PM Birthday Celebration Begins

Where:   Gobind Sadan---105 Graves RoadCentral Square, NY

We will be gathering at 6PM for meditation one hour before the celebration of Baba Jis Birthday begins in the Meditation Center. We did this so people can experience the incredibly powerful and amped up Meditation Center:
  1. Powerful Fields of Consciousness, Stacked 12
  2. An extremely positive vibe
  3. A vortex
  4. A powerful imprint (samskara) of meditation created by accomplished meditators. Meditating in such an environment will give you a change to significantly improve your meditative ability.
There will also be a guided meditation to help you develop the ability to sense and Feel Consciousness. Being able to sense and feel consciousness has innumerable benefits:
  1. Better help you connect with our Mother Earth.
  2. Expand and strengthen your aura.
  3. Improve your physical and spiritual health as you soak up more of Mother Earth.
  4. Improve your sentience.
The Downside is that you will become sensitive of space, which unfortunately most of is; bad so you may get pinching sensations in your forehead area. You will eventually be turned off by sound therapy, gongs and drum circles because it will be too much for you as your aura expands. All those things are meant to strengthen your aura and cleanse--Mother Earth will be doing that for you now once you begin to sense and feel Her many emanations 24/7.

All are welcome to attend the celebration of Baba Ji's Birthday at the Gobind Sadan Ashram. What he called, "One of the holiest places in the world!" This would be an excellent chance to join the Sikh community in celebrating one of their icons. Food will be served late;beginning some time between 9 and 10PM. So I recommend eating first unless you are a night owl. Sikh tradition is to have a meal after a service/celebration for all to enjoy.

Gobind Sadan is one of the top places listed in my book, Sacred Sites in North Star Country: Places in Greater New York State (Pa, Oh, NJ, CT, Ma, VT, Ont) That Changed the World

Jermain Loguen's Home in Syracuse, UGRR Site and Sacred Site

This past week I met with Chris Bolt of WAER for his series on Underground Railroad (UGRR) sites in Central New York  to discuss the Jermain Loguen home at the corner of Pine and Genesee Streets. It is estimated that Loguen and his wife Caroline were one to the most, if not the most prolific stationmasters on the UGRR having helped over 1,500 Freedom Seekers, or passengers, find Freedom.

Unfortunately, Loguen's home  was demolished to make way for a Rite Aid Drugstore about 10 years ago. Sad, because it rests on a Field of Consciousness, a stacked eight. One of the pictures below shows one of the high points in the Field of Consciousness. Incredibly the vibe was slightly positive. WOW. Caked over with crud, a commercial enterprise, and.... it still retains some vigor. Imagine what it must have been like in its day.

Here is a short blurb on what I wrote about Jermain Loguen and Caroline Loguen in North Star Country, Places in Greater New York State That Changed the World:

"Because of Jermain Loguen, Syracuse became known as the most openly abolitionist city in America, with some even calling it America’s Canada as noted earlier. Loguen was an A.M.E.Z. minister who had escaped slavery in Tennessee on a stolen horse. Dedicated to helping Freedom Seekers, he said “So long as God spares my life, it shall be spent to defy all slave laws.”Loguen brazenly advertised in papers and handed out cards telling Freedom Seekers where they could find help. He was dubbed, the “Underground Railroad King” by The Weekly Anglo-African. His daughter Amelia married Fredrick Douglass’ eldest son Lewis.Douglass introduced Loguen to abolitionist Gerrit Smith. Smith sent a letter back to Douglass saying, “What a man you have sent me! I asked him to pray and he prayed so feelingly for his mother and sisters in slavery that we were all in tears.” Smith hired Loguen to assist him in the donation of 200,000 acres to the poor, no matter what color they were. Many claimed that the land was of poor quality. Loguen investigated and found this not to be the case, but rather unscrupulous men would hire themselves as ‘pilots’ and misdirect recipients to mountaintops and swamps and scarf up the land for themselves. Loguen lived at the corner of Pine and Genesee Streets in Syracuse, in what is now the University section of the city, from 1848. Unfortunately, his home was torn down and replaced with a Rite Aid Pharmacy. It sits on a FOC containing a series (3) of S8’s. Some may wish to visit." Page 187

 The Rite Aid Store.
A plaque at the corner of Pine and Genesee Streets proclaiming the location as a UGRR site and giving recognition to this great soul.

My backpack on the ground marks one of the high points of the FOC: a series of 3 stacked FOC of 8, that breaks towards the store. The vibe is slightly positive. NICE!!!!!

I don't know what is sadder, that this famous couple goes unrecognized for their herculean and courageous effort,or that their historic home has been destroyed and we are no longer able to bask in its divinity.

What has not been snuffed out is its spirit of place. A slightly positive vibe still remains, undoubtedly a flicker of what it once was. Yet it remains defiant in the face of adversity as the Louegen's did,  and continues to radiate Christ Consciousness, albeit weaker.

Go visit this sacred site and see if you can feel its love;and soak up the spirit of great souls.

China tops list of citizens killed by pollution, India Close Behind--4.2 million

China, India account for half world's pollution deaths in 2015: study

An estimated 4.2 million people died of pollution in 2015. It is no surprise that China tops the list. There are numerous posts on this blog about the serial polluter China and the damage it has done to our Mother.

Skidmore's Orbs

With the American Society of Dowser's Convention set to return to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY this summer I thought it would be nice to set up a temporary stone circle over the Fields of Consciousness. To better describe the location(Broadway Entrance) I went to google earth. To my surprise one of the pictures contained two large orbs

To see the orbs click on the link below. They are located over the house on the right side:

https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0958915,-73.7795249,3a,75y,105.38h,92.87t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sEc8PSH77pnDr2_4c3i_PnA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Janice Carr rotated the picture and got an even more spectacular display:

https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0960663,-73.7794443,3a,75y,105.38h,92.87t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s8OgSMzBsM7gn0bvq9Qb-hA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Because the forms are similar in shape in both picture and the locations are different, it raises the suspicion that it is something on the lens is responsible for the orbs. Or the orb(s) are not energy formations, but something ethereal, an energy ball, or a sprit.

The Fields of Consciousness are located just north of the Broadway Entrance. In the picture below is from June of 2016 after my talk when we went there to meditate.

Orange backpack marks one of the highpoint.

Water Walk for Life, 3/4 to 3/11

In the Spirit of North Star Country join in.

Junsan of the Peace Pagoda in Grafton, NY will be leading a Water Walk for Life. The Peace Pagoda is listed as a sacred site in Sacred Sites in North Star Country: Places in Greater New York State (PA,OH,NJ,CT,MA,VT,ONT) That Changed the World

Water Walk for Life

90-mile prayer walk from Carteret, NJ to Peekskill Landing Park, NY

Sat., March 4 thru Sat., March 11, 2017

Join this march beginning 3/4/17—for a few hours or a few days…in solidarity with The Standing Rock Sioux, with prayers for water at risk from the Pilgrim Pipeline & Spectra-AIM (Algonquin) pipeline projects in New York & New Jersey, traditional territory of The Lenape.

Walk begins with Water Ceremony by Seneca & Onondaga Nations members.

Day 4: Tobacco Ceremony at Ramapough Lenape Nation’s Split Rock Prayer Camp.

Day 8: vigil at Indian Point nuclear power plant for 6th Anniversary of Fukushima

Daiichi Nuclear Disaster, followed by Water Ceremony at Peekskill Landing Park.

Concludes with potluck & speakers. (Most evenings: potluck/speakers–see reverse for schedule)

The Ramapough Lenape Nation, located in NJ & NY, is struggling to protect their sacred land and water from a pipeline project similar to the one at Standing Rock. The Pilgrim Pipeline would carry Bakken shale oil and its refined products from Albany, NY to Linden, NJ, threatening the health and safety of many communities, the environment, and our drinking water.

There is also great concern about SPECTRA-AIM (Algonquin) Pipeline, which would transport natural gas from Pennsylvania to Boston. An additional route through New York would pass extremely close to Indian Point nuclear power plant in Peekskill. Natural gas pipelines & nuclear plants both pose significant hazards independently; when placed in close proximity of each other, the risk of disaster is greatly multiplied.

Mention in new bestseller on Ghosts--Ghostland

I was surprised to see my name mentioned in the newly released Ghostland, An American History of Haunted Places. It has been well received:
Ghost land was one of NPR's Great Reads of 2016
"A lively assemblage and smart analysis of dozens of haunting stories… absorbing…[and] intellectually intriguing.”—The New York Times Book Review
An intellectual feast for fans of offbeat history, Ghostland takes readers on a road trip through some of the country's most infamously haunted places—and deep into the dark side of our history.

I am mentioned in our failed effort to buy Spirit House in Georgetown, NY and turn it into a museum/historic home and spiritual retreat center. Everything was going well until one of our members of the Spirit House Society decided to buy it for herself. Unfortunately, she has made no restorations and this elegant old house is in serious decline.

From Google Books;
"Meanwhile Brown's Temple has vanishingly few stories of ghosts attached to it. In 2009 it went up for sale and money manager turned spiritual healer, Madis Senner attempted to buy the house and return it to its former glory. In a YouTube video he talked about floating orbs (mysterious balls of light that appear to be floating in movies and pictures) that people may find on photographs of the house, but he went on to say that it "is a divine place that has been sacred site for thousands of years. Rather than view it as a haunted place that inspires fear, Senner suggested  that one should "instead put fear aside, and you may well encounter the divine there."
The walls of Brown's Temple retain the imprints of Spiritualism in its very architecture. And if it is truly haunted, then it is haunted not by ghosts and evil spirits so much as by an idea that has vanished; a building left behind, without the animating spirit that inspired its construction.
Regarding the final paragraph. Well.....how can I put.... When Betsy Rangert of the former Seven Rays in Syracuse looked at a picture of Spirit House (Brown's Temple) she laughed hysterically and told me that I have my work cut out. That is, to  clear it up of all that was  lingering unseen around it....Further that the  animating spirit that guided Timothy Brown in the construction of Spirit House, has vanished I beg to disagree.

What I find interesting is what the author Colin Dickey goes on to say:
Spiritualism like Transcendentalism is woven inextricably into the fabric of American consciousness;  much of what we accept as  our canonical culture was influenced by Spiritualism....
Spiritualism may have lost its influence by the end of the 1920's, but it might be more accurate to say that it went mainstream. The percentage of Americans who identify as Spiritual and not as religious has been slowly creeping up ever so slowly in recent years as people turn from organized churches and seek their own spiritual path. Meanwhile out belief in ghosts remains high...73%"

I concur and said so similarly in Sacred Sites in North Star Country, only I called it the New Age. 65% of adult age American's embrace some New Age beliefs. Another birth, or fruit born in greater NYS.

Local NPR Station WAER doing a series for Black History Month

Syracuse's NPR affiliate WAER radio 88.3 will be doing a series of short segments on noted Underground Railroad sites in upstate NY. It is an idea that I pitched them and I plan on being included, as they visit places and interview people.

I am hoping that this develops more into a larger series as other noted places across NYS are visited and expands beyond the UGRR to include Women's Rights, Spirituality, etc...

The program will cover The Jerry Rescue and Jermain Loguen in Syracuse, the Abolitionist Hall of Fame and the Gerrit Smith Estate in Peterboro, the UGRR in Oswego, the Starr Clark Tin Shop in Mexico and the Howland Stone Store in Sherwood.

Gobind Sadan Celebration Feb 25, 7PM

What:  Baba Virsa Singh's Birthday Celebration at Gobind Sadan

When:  Saturday, February 25, 7 PM

Where: Gobind Sadan
                         Address:
            105 Graves Road
            Central Square, NY

All are welcome to attend the celebration of Baba Ji's Birthday at the Gobind Sadan Ashram. What he called, "One of the holiest places in the world!" This would be an excellent chance to join the Sikh community in celebrating one of their icons. It will also give you the opportunity to meditate in a powerful place; one that would nourish your soul and improve your meditation.

When I wrote up Gobind Sadan for  Sacred Sites in North Star Country: Places in Greater New York State (Pa, Oh, NJ, CT, Ma, VT, Ont) That Changed the World I had never been in the meditation center. I was there a few weeks back.

When I walked into the mediation center--WOW. It has an extremely positive vibe, rests on a stack (12) Field of Consciousness (the highest) and has a vortex. It was an incredibly powerful and uplifting experience to meditate there.

Below is a picture of the meditation room. It is an old out building converted to a meditation center after the old temple was burned down. The ceremonial fire in the center room is stoked and fed incense on a continual basis. Ralph Singh would like to have the sacred fire going 24/7. He may be looking for volunteers to come by, or even spend a few days on a longer retreat in this shangra la and keep the fires going. When Ralph went to India years ago for one week  I would visit his house in Elbridge to do ceremony and feed a wooden statue of Baba Virsa Chand. This was over ten years ago.

More pictures

In the picture above I am standing in the vortex in the meditation room. A sure sign that this place is holy and divine. As I noted in Vortices and Spirals,  a vortex forms in response to prayer/meditation/cermony and are found at holy places around the world. Unfortunately, many supposed holy places don't have vortices, or even a positive vibe.

This would be a great place to sit and meditate when you visit. They gave me a an orange scarf to cover my head.

The meditation room is an incredibly powerful place. When you meditate in a place where others, more experienced meditators have meditated, you benefit and up your meditation. In other words, you can significantly improve your meditation by meditating there. For those that have played basketball, think how much better your game is when you play with better players.

We will be holding an Earth Healer's Gathering at Gobind Sadan this spring/summer and hopefully the temple will be opened up early for us to soak in the divinity of this precious piece of Mother Earth's Soul.

Take advantage of this opportunity to raise your consciousness and become a better meditator on Saturday, February 25th. Join in the celebration with this warm and welcoming community.
