Kids Test Scores Plummet--TECHNOLOGY KILLS

A recent NY Times analysis found that student test scores after rising since 1990 began plummeting in the early 2010's. Reading scores dropped for  83 percent of school districts  while math dipped in 70 percent of districts compared to the previous decade.  The reason for the decline were given as increased screen time, a decline in recreational reading and shorter attention spans. No doubt the introduction of the iPhone in 2010/11 was a major contributor.

Technology is dumbing us down.

Many have written about the problems posed by technology. On this blog I have consistently educated on how technology makes us less empathetic, alienates us, makes us lonely, depresses us and more... Click on, or type Technology Kills in the search box.

Here we are talking about how social media and cell phones make us think less, read less.....Instead of reading a book that gets us to think,  we scroll. WE are being dumbed down because we are thinking less. Imagine how the introduction of the car, while providing convenience, got us to walk less; and in doing so we exercised our legs less and our leg muscles began to atrophy.

No doubt we are moving closer to a world as seen in the movie the Matrix where we exist in an incubator;  we are fed and our minds are mined and hijacked to feed the machines with our brain impulses.

Is a Backlash Against Technology Brewin

I have been a luddite, an anti-tech person, all of my life. This blog is filled with posts about the problems technology creates, as well as, the dangers it poses. Hit the label 'technology kills' below to read some of them.

Today, the Guardian ran an opinion piece 'The zeitgeist is changing. A strange, romantic backlash to the tech era looms' on how a backlash against technology running over everyday life is beginning to bubble up. Saying it is not a turn to atheism but rather,

it’s what can be loosely termed “spirituality” – a devotion to astrology, witchcraft, magic and manifestation – that has emerged, particularly among the young. Online life, paradoxically enough, has only catalyzed this spirituality more, with teenage TikTok occultists and “manifesting” influencers racking up ever more followers.

Noting that the influencers against the Industrial Revolution were the poets and painters of the Romantic Age. People like Mary Shelly who wrote Frankenstein to highlight the fright of technology.

No doubt the onslaught of technology has been ferocious  these past past few decades--Internet, cell phones, social media....and we are in need of a respite. But will it be more?

More Research on How Dangerous Cell Phones are to Our Health

ProPublica, the independent nonprofits investigative news agency recently came out with a report  on the dangers of cell phones.  What makes this report so damning is that, as ProPublica notes, cell phone standards for emissions are over twenty-five years old; developed when cell phones were in their infancy and transmission frequencies were infinitesimal compared to today's technology such as 5G. They also warn it may also take decades, as it did with the tobacco industry, to get proof positive that cell phones are a major health risk. Don't forget the FCC that regulates the cell phone industry is considered the most captive (beholding to corporations) regulator in the USA.

Below is the report

What to Know About Cellphone Radiation

ProPublica recently examined how the federal government, based on quarter-century-old standards, denies that cellphones pose any risks. This guide answers some of the most common questions people ask about cellphone radiation.

To many people, the notion that cellphones or cell towers might present a health risk long ago receded into a realm somewhere between trivial concern and conspiracy theory. For decades, the wireless industry has dismissed such ideas as fearmongering, and federal regulators have maintained that cellphones pose no danger. But a growing body of scientific research is raising questions, with the stakes heightened by the ongoing deployment of hundreds of thousands of new transmitters in neighborhoods across America. ProPublica recently examined the issue in detail, finding that the chief government regulator, the Federal Communications Commission, relies on an exposure standard from 1996, when the Motorola StarTAC flip phone was cutting edge, and that the agency brushed aside a lengthy study by a different arm of the federal government that found that cellphone radiation caused rare cancers and DNA damage in lab animals. The newest generation of cellphone technology, known as 5G, remains largely untested.

Here’s what you need to know:

Do cellphones give off radiation?

Yes. Both cellphones and wireless transmitters (which are mounted on towers, street poles and rooftops) send and receive radio-frequency energy, called “nonionizing radiation.” The amount of this radiation absorbed by the human body depends on how close a person is to a phone and a cell transmitter, as well as the strength of the signal the phone needs to connect with a transmitter. Cellphones displaying fewer bars, which means their connection with a transmitter is weak, require stronger power to communicate and so produce more radiation. Wireless transmitters, for their part, emit radiation continually, but little of that is absorbed unless a person is very close to the transmitter.

What does the science say about this? Is it harmful?

That’s the multibillion-dollar question. Government-approved cellphones are required to keep radiation exposure well below levels that the FCC considers dangerous. Those safeguards, however, have not changed since 1996, and they focus exclusively on the unlikely prospect of “thermal” harm: the potential fohealth complaints, including dizziness, nausea, headaches, tinnitus and insomnia, from people identified as having “electromagnetic hypersensitivity.”

The most sensational — and hotly debated — health fear about wireless radiation is cancer. In 2011, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, an arm of the World Health Organization, cited troubling but uncertain evidence in classifying wireless radiation as “possibly carcinogenic to humans.” In 2018, a study by the federal government that was nearly two decades in the making found “clear evidence” that cellphone radiation caused cancer in lab animals. A major study in Italy produced similar results.

Do cellphones pose any special health risks for kids?

Some experts say they do, citing studies suggesting children’s thinner, smaller skulls and developing brains leave them more vulnerable to the effects of cellphone radiation. The American Academy of Pediatrics embraces this concern and has for years urged the FCC to revisit its radiation standards, saying they don’t adequately protect kids. More than 20 foreign governments, as well as the European Environment Agency, urge precautionary steps to limit wireless exposure, especially for children.

What about risks in pregnancy?

A Yale study found hyperactivity and reduced memory in mice exposed to cellphone radiation in the womb, consistent with human epidemiological research showing a rise in behavioral disorders among children who were exposed to cellphones in the womb. Dr. Hugh Taylor, the author of the mouse study and chair of the obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences department at the Yale School of Medicine, told ProPublica: “The evidence is really, really strong now that there is a causal relationship between cellphone radiation exposure and behavior issues in children.”

What does the U.S. government say about cellphone radiation?

The key federal agencies — the FCC and the Food and Drug Administration — have echoed the wireless industry and a number of other groups in rejecting evidence of any “nonthermal” human health risk, saying it remains unproven. The government websites also reject the claim that children face any special risk.

In 2019, during the administration of President Donald Trump, the FCC shut down a six-year review of its 1996 wireless-radiation safety standards. The agency rejected pleas to make the standards more stringent, saying it had seen no evidence its safeguards were “outdated or insufficient to protect human safety.” In 2021, however, a federal appeals court ordered the FCC to revisit the issue, saying the agency had ignored evidence of an array of noncancer harms to humans, animals and the environment, and that its decision to uphold its exposure standard failed to meet “even the low threshold of reasoned analysis.” The FCC has taken no formal action since then.

Why is the issue not resolved?

Determining wireless radiation’s health effects with certainty is difficult. Researchers cannot ethically subject people to endless hours of cellphone radiation to gauge the results. Scientists have to rely on alternatives such as animal studies or epidemiological research, where challenges include getting subjects to accurately recount their wireless use and pinpointing the specific causes of disease or harm. Many health effects of toxic exposure, especially cancer, take years or decades to appear. And the mechanisms of how wireless radiation could affect the body at the cellular level are poorly understood.

Research funding on the issue has also been scarce in the U.S., despite frequent calls for more study. Research (and researchers) raising health concerns have come under sharp attack from industry, and government regulators have remained skeptical. A key FDA official, for example, dismissed the relevance of the federal study that found “clear evidence” of cancer in lab animals, saying it wasn’t designed to test the safety of cellphone use in humans, even though his agency had commissioned the research for that reason.

Linda Birnbaum, who led the federal agency that conducted the cellphone study, said that while proof of harm remains elusive, what is known means that precautions are merited. “Do I see a smoking gun? Not per se,” she told ProPublica. “But do I see smoke? Absolutely. There’s enough data now to say that things can happen. … Protective policy is needed today. We really don’t need more science to know that we should be reducing exposures.”

If I’m concerned about the risk, are there precautions I can take to protect myself and my family?

Because exposure varies dramatically with your proximity to the source of the radiation, experts say a key to minimizing risk is increasing your distance from the phone. This means keeping any cellphone that’s turned on away from direct contact with your body. Don’t keep it in your bra, in your pocket or (especially if you’re pregnant) against your abdomen, they say. And instead of holding the phone against your head when you talk, use a speaker or wired earphones. (Wireless headsets, such as AirPods, also emit some radiation.) Try to avoid making calls when the phone is telling you the signal is weak because that boosts the radiation level. You can also limit exposure by simply reducing how much time you spend talking on your cellphone and texting instead, they say. Using an old-fashioned landline avoids the problem altogether.

Technology Hurting Young People

Ever since I started this blog over a decade ago I have been talking about the dangers of technology and cell phones and how they are alienating us, making us less empathic and causing a host of physical health and mental health issues. Adolescents and children have been particularly hit hard.

This decline began around 2009 with the introduction of the smart phone as I noted back in 2017 when I talked about a book by psychologist Jean Twenge who examines intergenerational trends and changes Technology Kills--Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation?

Last month The NY Times began a series about how adolescent mental health has suffered on adolescent mental health. Author Matt Richtel said,

What makes less sense to me is why our society has done so little to protect children from the apparent damages of ubiquitous digital media. They are almost certainly larger for most children than the threat from Covid.

Electricity is Bad for Your Health—A Personal Story

Friends,

I would like to share with you a personal story on how damaging electricity can be to your health. Last fall I began having an issue with insomnia where I would wakeup after four or five hours and would not be able to go back to sleep for an hour or more. The frequency of these occurrences increased over time and by this spring I was waking up almost every night and staying awake.

Then I read about how bad electricity was for your health. So I started to turn off my Internet router and modem every night before I went to sleep.

Bingo. For a week I slept soundly and did not wake up once in the middle of the night; or if I did wake up I was able to fall back asleep.

I also stopped hiking at Clarks Reservation close to my home that I had been going to for well over a decade.  A place I would go to several times a week because it’s less than ten minutes from my home and I could let my dogs off the leash and let them run in the woods. But I had to walk six to eight minutes under high power lines to get into the woods. Once I stopped going to Clarks Reservation I found that I had almost no pain in my joints after my walks/hikes.

Since this spring I have had some setbacks with my sleeping, but have learned that they are associated with too much screen time or other activities. Because of this I have increased the use of hardcopy for my editing and have undertaken other measures.

The Books I read

The primary book that influenced me was

The Invisible Rainbow: A History of Electricity and Life by Arthur Firstenberg a well researched and thorughtuout book.

I also looked at EMF*D: 5G, Wi-Fi & Cell Phones: Hidden Harms and How to Protect Yourself by Dr. Joseph Merola

Arthur Firstenberg the author of The Invisible Rainbow is electro-sensitive and suffers pain and other symptoms when he is close to electricity. The arguments in his books are compelling. Using historical data back to the late nineteenth century when electricity first became available he shows how the electrification of communities and countries coincided with spikes in diseases.

For example, there was very little heart disease in the rural areas of southern states in the 1930’s. The TVA brought electricity to select areas and the rate of heart disease took off and continues growing.

Did you know that heart disease was ranked the 25th cause of death before the advent of electricity. Today it is #1.

One could argue that life style and dietary changes were the major contributor to illness in the post WWII period, but Firstenberg’s charts and numbers show electricity as being the root cause are incredibly compelling.

Which diseases?

Just about every disease may in some way trace back to electricity because electricity messes with your cells and can wreak havoc in a variety of ways. Everything from anxiety, to heart disease, to arthritis, to cancer, diabetes, influenza….much more…

It seems bizarre to think that influenza could be caused by electricity since we are taught that we catch it from other people. Firstenberg points out that there have been no verifiable cases of transmission of influenza between people ever found. Wow.

Instead, he notes that the first big contagion of influenza was in 1889, a time when telegraph poles were becoming common and the electrical wars to determine whether AC (Alternating Current) or DC (Direct Current) was to be the industry standard was in pitch battle.  Edison and Westinghouse were dueling to see who could hoist up more electrical poles on America’s city streets.

He further points out that influenza is tied to the solar cycle and surges during peak sunspot activity. ( See Is sunspot activity a factor in influenza pandemics? - PubMedhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov › ...) In other words, sunspots make us vulnerable to influenza because it disrupts our biofield, or Energy Body. Think how Energy Healing works to heal us by working with our biofield. Electricity creates a geomagnetic field  that disrupts our Energy Body the same way as sunspots do; hence we are vulnerable to getting influenza. His book includes so many other hard to believe but true information.

Consider Diabetes, it supposedly comes from eating too much sugar. Take a look at the graph below from The Invisible Rainbow that shows how cases of diabetes began spiking and went parabolic in the late 1990s in America at the exact time cell phone ownership was beginning to catch fire.

To further show that cell phones were behind the surge in diabetes Firstenberg provides research showing the diabetes is a fat metabolizing disease—not a sugar metabolizing disease. As mentioned earlier electricity messes with your cells.

The graph above showing the increases in diabetes is the crux of Firstenberg's argument. Do you believe that it shows a causal relationship in that the surge in diabetes occurred because of an event such as the introduction fo cell phones or do you need verfiable testing? This is the core of Firstenberg's proof, it is also where critics have chosen to attack him. Personally, I think his argument and proof is incredibly compelling.

The fact is that electricity also screws up the electron transfer process of our cells and makes us deficient an electron among other things. Which means we are missing an electron, which is the same problem behind inflammation. It is well known that inflammation is behind every disease because it causes your body to keep attacking itself. Which means that if you have something wrong with you there is a very good chance electricity is one of , if not the only culprit.

Let me repeat, electricity contributes to inflammation in your body and inflammation has been shown to be behind just about every disease. There is more to the damages created by electricity. If you are unfamiliar with the relationship of disease and inflammation see Inflammation: The Secret Killer - Feb ... - TIME Magazine Coverhttp://content.time.com › time › covers

Firstenberg tells that even obesity may be tied to electricity because it messes with your cells. So perhaps tossing your cell phone, less screen time, getting rid of some of your electrical devices….is the way to lose weight.

My favorite fact from the book was that the best way to get rid of a beehive was to put a cell phone in the hive for ten minutes because it will kill all the bees. Wow.  It blows my mind to think we are putting up 5G around the country and we are told safe it is….just like we were told how it was safe to use oxycoton for pain, or how safe smoking was, how….Worse we need bees to pollinate plants to keep our food supply safe.

If you go online you will see the bee claim strenuously questioned and refuted. However, there is lots of research out there telling us that indeed cell phones do kill bees. Here is some from Firstenberg's not-for-profit dedicated to educating about the dangers of electricity THE HONEY BEE'S PLEA - Cellular Phone Task Forcehttps://www.cellphonetaskforce.org › 2020/05 › T...

In his book Dr. Mercola compares the cell phone industry to the tobacco industry in the 1950’s, predicting it will take a few decades to pierce the industries media shield and show how very damaging EMF’s and cell phones are to life. He explains how the cell phone industry manipulates the public’s knowledge regarding the health dangers posed by cell phones. For example, research is based on short term usuage not the usual length of time people have conversations for. Not surprising  FCC (regulator for the cell phone industry) is considered to be held captive by the companies it regulates.

Mercola’s book is more of a manual and offers suggestions, as well as measures to take and devices to purchase to protect yourself. For example, he tells what devices to buy to protect yourself from your home’s dirty electricity. Which is the electromagnetic energy and other currents created by your home’s electrical system. The walls in your home are full of wires and outlets, there are also appliances and wires for electrical devices. These all create what is called dirty electricity and it is bad for you. Imagine the wall you are sleeping next to may be killing you.

I looked at some of the devices Dr. Mercola recommended to buy to protect yourself from dirty electricity but found conflicting reviews online. This may well be because people were measuring results with the wrong instruments. While I need to do more research, it did give me some pause.  I just wanted to make sure the devices he recommended worked well before dropping a few hundred dollars.

Mercola says to avoid smart devices with built in WiFi. He educates that our new light bulbs may be smart and energy efficient but they are bad for our health (as are fluorescent lights). He laments that he can no longer buy a simple old-fashioned incandescent light bulb.

There is so much more information in both of these incredible books. Your local library probably has copies so you may want to try there first.

For over a decade and a half on this blog and years before that I have been saying TECHNOLOGY KILLS. It really, really does!

Last Pole Shift 42,000 years ago was a Climate Catastrophe and Mass Extinction Event

A new analysis in Science has turned upside down the theory that a reversal of the earth's magnetic poles had a minimal impact upon life on earth. By studying the rings of giant kauri trees thousands of years old in well preserved in bogs in New Zealand scientists from the South Australian museum and the University of South Wales found that the last pole shift 42,000 years ago was a climate catastrophe that allowed unfiltered cosmic rays to pour onto the earth. This led to mass extinctions and the destruction of the environment.

The findings establish that a WEAK GEOMAGNETIC FIELD INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF MASS EXTINCTIONS.  Particularly worrisome since the earth's geomagnetic field is currently decreasing in strength and the magnetic north is running full speed away from the physical North Pole. Electropollution is devastating the geomagnetic field. More below.

The disintegration of  magnetic field 42,000 years ago  is known as the Laschamp excursion and estimated to have lasted 250 years, The period leading up to the pole shift has been given the name of the "Adams Transitional Geomagnetic Event" in honor of British humorist Douglas Adams. He wrote The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the  Last Chance to See, which is about extinction.

The Pole Shift Was Devastating

The pole shift 42,000 tears ago disrupted the earth's geomagnetic field and allowed harmful Cosmic Rays to enter the earth's atmosphere unfiltered. This led to species extinctions and the end of Neanderthal man. Humans survived by moving underground and living in caves. This contributed too much of the ancient cave art that we find around the world.

The event also led to low sun activity, an increase in ultraviolet light, an increase in damaging radiation, a depletion in the ozone layer... Places like Australia saw prolonged periods of drought.

A weakened geomantic field had a huge impact upon life, that is because all of life is tied to the geomagnetic field. We need it to survive. NASA found in the early days of space exploration astronauts would get sick in space when deprived of the earth's energies such as the Schumann Resonance and created a device to replicate what some call the heartbeat of Mother Earth.

Electropollution

The geomagnetic field is weakening because we are microwaving our Mother to death with all of our technological devices: radio waves, TV signals, cell phones and more. We have wired the world with electrical wires and grounded them in the earth. Each time electricity moves it creates a magnetic field that interferes with our Mother's geomagnetic field.

A microwave oven emits harmful radiation and many of us own one and use it. We have electrical appliances, hair dryers, electric blankets and more, All of this interferes with the earth's geomagnetic field.

There is also WiFi technologies that we have incorporated into our lives and the environment with our smart devices, appliances, cars, computers ...and WiFi hookup stations.

Now we are introducing 5G into our lives and will be setting up transmitters on almost every block in our cities.

Our digital fix is not only killing us but severely damaging our Mother. The father of electromedicine and twice nominated for a Nobel Prize in medicine, Dr. Rober O Becker, once said that the damage done by electropollution from all our electrical devices has  a far greater damaging effect upon the planet than  climate change. And we are doing nothing about it.

Well some of us have heeded Becker's advice because he is  the guy that got many of us  not wanting to live near high power lines. Remember the guy holding a glowing fluorescent light underneath a power line--Becker was indirectly behind that.

The affects of electrolpollution are already being felt. The geomagnetic field has weakened 9% over the last two centuries Looking at the video below we can very vividly see that tears in our protective covering, or shield of geomagnetism are increasing in frequency.

A weakening of the geomagnetic field 42,000 years ago presaged a pole shift. We are well along our way for a repeat. And maybe sooner than we think.

Video above shows the South Atlantic Anomaly where our protective shield is weak. This animation via white dots shows the magnetic field strength at Earth’s surface from 2014-2020 based on data collected by the Swarm satellite constellation. Credit: Division of Geomagnetism, DTU Space.

Technology Kills--Too Much Screen Time for Pre-Schoolers Compromises Brain Structure

A new study found that increased screen time among preschoolers resulted in structural differences in the brains of preschool-age children. From Science Daily:
The study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, shows that children who have more screen time have lower structural integrity of white matter tracts in parts of the brain that support language and other emergent literacy skills. These skills include imagery and executive function -- the process involving mental control and self-regulation. These children also have lower scores on language and literacy measures.
The Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center study assessed screen time in terms of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations. The AAP recommendations not only take into account time spent in front of screens but also access to screens, including portable devices; content; and who children are with and how they interact when they are looking at screens. Science Daily
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE AFFECTS OF INCREASED SCREEN TIME RESULTED IN LESS CONTROL FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS--"THE LOSS OF EXECUTIVE FUNCTION, THE PROCESS OF MENTAL CONTROL AND SELF-REGULATION."

IN OTHER WORDS, KIDS ARE LOSING CONTROL OVER THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT EXERCISING THEIR CONTROL; JUST LIKE IF WE NEVER WALKED AND USED A MECHANICAL WHEELCHAIR WE WOULD BE CHALLENGED TO WALK.

Teen Suicides Have Spiked Since the Advent of iPhones/Cell Phones-TECHNOLOGY KILLS

In a new report the CDC announced that there has been an alarming rise in teen suicides beginning in 2007. Saying,
The suicide rate among persons aged 10–24 was stable from 2000 to 2007, and then increased 56% between 2007 (6.8 per 100,000) and 017 (10.6). The pace of increase for suicide was greater from 2013 to 2017 (7% annually, on average) than from 2007 to 2013 (3% annually).
The rise in suicides coincides with the rise in a lack of empathy, loneliness and depression among teens. I have posted about this on several occasions Technology Kills---Rising Cell Phone/Social Media Use Creates a Loss of Empathy and a Rise in Loneliness and Anger

The rise in suicides and loss of empathy can be traced to the advent of iPhones (2007) and the  increasing amount of time teens spend on cell phones. 2009/2010 is the period when the majority of Americans began owning cell phones.Technology Kills.

As I said in Everything Has Karma,
If you take nothing else away from this book get rid of your cell phone, don’t partake in social media, and reduce technology in your life. These simple steps will go a long way in preventing the devolution of your humanity and consciousness and will help reduce the chances of increasing the number of your future lives. 5G Dangers

Friends,

Conservative commentator Sharyl Attkinson of Full Measure had an informative segment on 5G earlier today. Below is a link.

As was noted in a 5g conference I listened to a few weeks ago—THE FCC THAT OVERSEES TELECOMMUNICATIONS IS THE MOST CONTROLLED REGULATORY AGENCY BY ITHE INDUSTRY IT IS SUPPOSE TO OVERSEE.

Sadly the grip of corporations control over us is growing.

Technology Kills.

Blessings,
madis

PS There has been almost no discussion of the detrimental consequences of EMF's and 5G on Mother Earth and all of creation. It is called Electropollution and it is a serious environmental hazard.

5G and the Bias of Science

5G (digital cell networks) will soon be ravaging your body and our Mother as more and more cities allow for its service in their communities. In my home town the Syracuse Common Council voted to allow small 5g towers to be placed on just about every city block. My counselor Joe Driscoll did not return my phone calls and ended up voting for the bill even though he had concerns.

I am hoping to find time to organize around 5g and educate people about the serious dangers 5g posses to your health and to Mother Earth. I have been engrossed in finishing my fifth book Everything Has Karma and sending out review copies. Basically by allowing 5G we are adding fuel to the microwaving of ourselves and our Mother.

How We are Duped by Industry and Science
We need to understand that industry and science have their thumb on the scale when it comes to the public's interest. Remember how for year's we heard how safe Monsanto's Roundup was until it wasn't? Sheryl Atkinson's Full Measure had a wonderful segment today showing how Industry is able to manipulate, payoff and use science to its advantage to  mislead the public,  Slanted Science

Do You Think that Verizon and other Cell Provider's are any different?

Dr. Robert O. Becker
Dr. Robert O. Becker (1923-2008) was a pioneer in the research of bioelectricity based out Syracuse's Upstate Medical. He would come to learn how important electricity/EMF's are to life.He was twice nominated for the Nobel Prize in Medicine.

Becker also came to understand the dangers of what he called "electropollution." Saying in  his book  Cross Currents "the exposure of living organisms to abnormal electromagnetic fields results in significant abnormalities in physiology and function." (page 187.)

It was at Environmental Protection Agency hearings in 1975 over a New York State Power Authority plan to run a 765,000-volt line from Utica to Massena, N.Y., on the Canadian border, that Becker announced his opposition on health grounds. Becker and one of his students, Andrew Marino, said that they had found various irregularities in rats exposed to high-voltage electromagnetic fields (EMFs). Their findings meant that no one should be within 100 yards of high-power lines, they testified.
Becker later appeared on "60 Minutes" to raise more concerns, but his visibility on the issue ended his other scientific studies because he questioned the objectivity of the National Academy of Sciences, according to Mr. Marino. Becker's grants were canceled. "Regeneration studies were effectively killed," said Mr. Marino, now a professor in the department of cellular biology and anatomy at Louisiana State University in Shreveport.
Becker actively protested against power lines in New York State until his death in 2008.

Professor Andrew Marino (Becker's student) would go on to address the bias in science with his book Going Somewhere: Truth about a Life in Science

5G is worse
5G is electropollution on steroids. It is an environmental issue as well as a health issue. To me it is particularly sad to see my community vote for 5G when such an icon on the effect of EMF's on our health hailed from Syracuse. SAD.

As I have said many times before Technology Kills.

Technology Kills---Rising Cell Phone/Social Media Use Creates a Loss of Empathy and a Rise in Loneliness and Anger

I found this sponsored link on Bloomberg this AM Decline in Human Empathy Creates Global Risks in the 'Age of Anger' on the damage to humanity from the use of cell phones and other new technologies. Basically they are  making us less empathetic and more  lonely and angry. It is a summary of the 'World Economic Forum: Global Risks Report 2019. It does appear to refer to some new research that I will try and access.

As I have been saying for over a decade TECHNOLOGY KILLS. Click on the Labels Section below to read some of my posts on this. Cell phones, social media and other technologies are hollowing out our souls. My upcoming book due out in September Everything Has Karma, Learning to Embrace Our Interconnectedness goes into much more detail on this.

Below are a few quotes from the article.

Decline in Human Empathy Creates Global Risks in the 'Age of Anger'

Our interconnected world has never had more lonely, angry people. Is technology responsible for a decline in human empathy?

As today’s economy grows more interconnected, a new global phenomenon has emerged: the growing number of people who feel disconnected and isolated.

Technology is a complex factor in rising levels of anger and loneliness. The Global Risk Report notes that in a recent study, technology was cited as a major cause of loneliness and social isolation by 58 percent of survey respondents in the United States and 50 percent in the United Kingdom. But the same survey found that social media makes it easier for people to “connect with others in a meaningful way” and that lonely people were no more likely to use social media.

ervasive digital technology has also blurred the boundary between the workplace and home. Work-related emails often start before office hours and continue long after close of business. A 2016 study by Pew Research Center found that nearly one-third of American adults never turn off their smartphones.
Even as professional pressures increasingly encroach upon private life, people often don’t have traditional support networks at home. The percentage of single-person households in the U.K. has almost doubled over the last 50 years, with similar increases in the U.S., Germany and Japan. In urban capitals, the number of “solitaries” is even higher: 50 percent in Paris, 60 percent in Stockholm. In Midtown Manhattan, 94 percent of households are single-person.
Urbanization weakens social bonds not just in cities, but also in the communities and households that migrant workers leave behind, and growing social isolation is a trend in established and emerging economies alike. The proportion of people feeling lonely in the U.K. climbed to 22 percent in 2017 from an average of 17 percent in 2014-2016, with a sharp drop in the number of people who reported never feeling lonely, according to a survey published by the Cabinet Office.
These results mirror those of a study in American Sociological Review that looked at the number of close friends that people have. In 1985, the average number of close friends was 2.9; by 2004 it was 2.1. The percentage of people who responded that they had no close friends at all tripled over the same period.
“Emotionally, people are quite lonely. We’re seeing in many societies a kind of breakdown of family, or connection with family,” Scott says. “I think it’s also a demographic thing; younger people are more tuned into using technology and social media, and to live in a world talking to machines through chatbots. That can create all sorts of emotions of fear and frustration, and in some cases that frustration can get expressed as anger.”
Individual psychological and emotional problems can become collective concerns when loneliness and frustration meet populist and identity politics—an emerging reality in what is becoming known as the “age of anger.” According to the Global Risks Report, these trends may pose a significant threat to geopolitical stability.
“Individual harms matter in themselves, but they can also feed into wider systemic risks—for example, potential political, societal, technological and environmental disruptions,” Scott says. “A world of increasingly divided and angry people would be likely to generate volatile electoral results and decrease the chance of solving complex multi-stakeholder global risks. If empathy were to continue to decline, the risks might be even starker.”
The decline in empathy is not just anecdotal. One study of American students published in Personality and Social Psychology Review revealed that levels of empathy in this demographic fell by 48 percent between 1979 and 2009. Possible causes of the growing empathy gap include increasing materialism, changing parenting methods and the digital echo chamber, in which people anchor themselves in close-knit groups of like-minded people. Such echo-chamber effects aren’t always as obvious as those seen on social media. For example, researchers have found that the matching processes used on dating platforms can also weaken social bonds.
