Bench added at Peacemakers Sanctuary

Last Thursday a bench was added to the Peacemaker's Sanctuary at Onondaga Lake. The new bench will replace the old wooden bench, and the old bench will be moved about 40 feet to the southeast in front of a large tree. The area has gotten overrun and needs to be cleaned out before the bench is placed.

The new location for the old bench is very sweet and has a great vibe. I imagine that someone, most likely a Native America, prayed, meditated or did ceremony there. It has a palpable feel to it. It rests on a Field of Consciousness, which has twelve Fields stacked upon each other (S12), the most that there is. Very Nice.

Thanks to those that donated and made the purchase of the bench possible.

We would like to add more benches in this area and help to continue elevate the space and provide a sanctuary to the greater Syracuse community and the world at large. To the place where my prayers were once answered.

Currently the old bench is next to the new one.

The above is the inscription on the new bench.

Place Matters:Could "Star Wars Invaders" Overshadow "Magical" Irish Island

There was a segment this AM on CBS morning news about an island in the Altlantic Ocean off the coast of Ireland used for filming in the recent Star Wars movie. It was where Luke Skywalker was hiding in the movie.

Skellig Michael, or Great Skellig, is a UNESCO World Heritage site that was a monastery for over 600 years beginning in 600 AD. Mark Phillips of CBS commented about the concerns that the Island will have its history overrun by a new force.

Place Matters. We leave imprints of our thoughts and actions wherever we go. Over time these imprints get stronger and encourage more of the same. But, they can be overrun with the thoughts and actions of others that follow.

Sadly another sacred space is being overwhelmed with tourists and gawkers out for a visual thrill. We have become a society of voyeurs shooting videos and taking pictures with our cell phones and in the process contaminating the places we go.

Serpent Mound (Ohio, Pennsylvania) Trip and Survey; Part 6

The trip home from Serpent Mound included a stop in Pittsburgh. My map dowsing found several Fields of Consciousness (FOC) in the city. A few were inaccessible.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a stacked Field of 3 (3 Fields stacked upon each other) at the Smithfield UCC church. Pittsburgh is 360 miles from Syracuse, the center of Mother Earth's Soul (FOC's) and makes me wonder that perhaps their reach is farther than I had thought.

What is nice about Pittsburgh's Smithfield UCC is that the sanctuary is open for prayer and meditation 9AM to 2:45PM Monday to Friday. Thus it provides plenty of time and opportunity for pilgrims to visit and experience the FOC and help raise the vibe I encourage people in the Pittsburgh area to visit and meditate there.

Smithfield UCC was undergoing renovations as the picture below shows.

Harrison Hills Park is located in Natrona Heights, 24 miles north of Pittsburgh. There is a stacked Field of 3 by the parking lot near the Learning Center and Yakama Pavilion.

Serpent Mound (Ohio, Pennsylvania) Trip and Survey; Part 5

The way home on our Serpent Mound excursion included a stop at the Grave Creek Mound in Moundsville, West Virginia an Adena Burial mound. There is a museum with exhibits and other information. You can even  climb the mound,  which is unique.

Unfortunately years ago the state of West Virginia  decided to build a state penitentiary next to the mound; it operated from 1876 to 1995. The prison is now available to visitors and is billed as a mysterious and ghostly place where you can--see the Dungeon of Horrors and experience the fright of being locked up, go for a Zombie walk, experience Ghost Adventures and more....

SO MUCH FOR REVERENCE ROR THE GRAVE CREEK MOUND.

To say that the vibe of the mound on the side of the prison is bad, is to say sugar can be sweet; it gave me a slight headache. My question is how much has the vibe deteriorated since the prison was turned  into a spectacle and freak show? Hey, but that is our current society and our irreverence for the land.

The visit did not last long. Below are some pic's.

Serpent Mound (Ohio, Pennsylvania) Trip and Survey; Part 4

There are other earthen mounds in Chillicothe, as well as remenants of them.

Story Mound is an Adena Burial Mound located on Delano Street near the corner of Cherokee in Chillicothe

Adena Mansion was the home to Thomas Worthington the sixth governor of Ohio. On the grounds was an Adena Mound which was leveled and is now a bump on Orange Street in Chillicothe. Below is a picture of the mound as it was being excavated.

Serpent Mound (Ohio, Pennsylvania) Trip and Survey; Part 3

Chillicothe, Ohio about 50 miles north of Serpent Mound is home to numerous earthen mounds. None are Adena Ceremonial mounds like Serpent Mound. The largest collection of mounds is found at Mound City; or what is formally called the Hopewell Culture National Historic Center, which is run by the National Parks Service. . The Hopewell Culture followed the Adena Culture.

There are over 23 mounds of varying shape and size on the grounds. They are Hopewell ceremonial mounds. Honestly, while they provide an incredible visual experience there is no sense of space, or feel to the space. It was most likely there long ago and has since dissipated since very few people visit and do ceremony, or pray there as we did. I must say that I did see one woman praying before one of the mounds--Excellent! I imagine that some are moved by the grandeur of the mounds which helps raise the consciousness of the space.

As I have been harping about for years sacred places need to be reinvigorated periodically through prayer/meditation/ceremony and good thoughts less their vibe and spiritual sense begins to diminish. See my Vortices and Spirals

The other startlingly thing was that the earth energies that exuded from Serpent Mound are not present at Mound City. None of the mounds appear to have been placed on aspects of  Mother Earth to tap into  Her (energies, essences, consciousness...). I found no mounds that were even located over Ley Lines. Perhaps the focus of the mounds is was towards the sky, archeoastronomy.

Here are some pics from Mound City.

Serpent Mound (Ohio, Pennsylvania) Trip and Survey; Part 2

Serpent Mound, in Peebles, Ohio is the world's largest effigy mound, it is  in the shape of snake. The serpent  is a 1,348 foot long earthen mound approximately 3 feet high consisting of several layers:
Top Layer--Sod
˜Next--Dark soil,
Next---Yellow clay and stones
Bottom layer--Gray clay or decomposed rock.

There has been considerable debate over whether it was constructed by the Hopewell or the Adena. Recent archeological research points to the Adena as it is estimated to be more than 2,000 years old (New Radiocarbon Dates Suggest Serpent Mound is More Than 2,000 Years Old,  History Got it Wrong: Scientists Now Say Serpent Mound as Old as Aristotle .) So we can assume it was constructed by the Adena.

We may also assume that it is an Adena ceremonial site as no skeletons were ever found buried in it. There are very few Adena ceremonial sites left standing, as many were destroyed by treasure hunters and farmers. What few Adena mounds are left standing are burial sites.

Clearly Serpent Mound is a ceremonial site as you can feel the earth energies exuding from the serpent. Unfortunately, the vibe is not the greatest as the site was desecrated over the intervening years. And while kudos' go out to the Professor Putnam, Harvaard University and the Ohio Historical Society for rescuing the "physical structure", the "spiritual space" of the serpent continues to be disrespected. As I have noted on this blog and wrote about in detail in Vortices and Spirals, our thoughts linger and are retained wherever we go; we leave imprints on the land. If the thoughts are loving, focused on the divine the encourage and bolster similar in others, if they are focused on the material, worse yet, violence--it is not good.

While many do visit with solemness, pray/meditate and do ceremony and spread tobacco and perform other spiritual practices as we did, most don't. The focus is on the physical and not on the spiritual presence there and the way it affects your being. Sad. Particularly sad because I imagine that many cried for a vision there, prayed to great Spirit, gave thanks, prayed for others and more and those thoughts were once very powerful there and lingered in the ether beckoning others to do the same. VERY SAD!!!

Here are some pics:

We used the area in front of marker below as our Welcome Circle; smudging, prayers, ceremony and spreading tobacco.

Looking towards the head. Dogs allowed as long as they are on a leash. Pepper and Jaeda Bear got pretty rev'ed up from the earth energies.

What many consider to be the egg, near the jaws of the serpent. Behind me is a bench we meditated on and said prayers.

Serpent Mound (Ohio, Pennsylvania) Trip and Survey

Over the next few days I will be posting about my trip to and survey of  Serpent Mound, in Peebles Ohio, the world's largest effigy mound. I stopped along Lake Erie in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and metro Pittsburgh to survey for Fields of Consciousness and sacred sites.

I was pleased to find Fields of Consciousness in Ohio's Western Reserve (NE OH), so far from the center of Mother Earth's Soul--the Utica/Rochester corridor. SWEET!

The heart of Mother Earth's Soul and Her Fields lays along the Rochester/Utica corridor, with Syracuse being the center. Fields diminish in potency as you get farther from the center. Meaning that instead of having numerous Fields, as high as 12, stacked upon each other you find single Fields, or only a few Fields stacked upon each other.

The following are three of the sites that have Fields in Ohio that I will be including in my upcoming book, Sacred Sites in North Star Country, Places in Greater New York State That Changed the World.

Conneaut Township Park, Conneaut Ohio

Sunset Park, North Kingsville Ohio

Geneva State Park, Geneva, Ohio
