Part I Stonewall/Ohiopyle Survey--Stonewall Jackson State Park West Virginia
Last week I took a trip to see and survey the stone mounds at Stonewall Jackson State Park in West Virginia and Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania. It was part of my ongoing research effort for upcoming my book Early Woodland (Adena and Middlesex) Ceremonial Sites, due out in 2019.
My interest about these places was piqued a few months back when I read an article THE CONTINUING "STONE MOUND PROBLEM": IDENTIFYING AND INTERPRETING THE AMBIGUOUS ROCK PILES OF THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY. It told of the noble effort to get the stone mounds on Bear Knob in West Virginia on the National Register of Historic Places. Within it was a mention of Ohiopyle State Park as well as Stonewall Jackson State Park. It was the picture of a stone mound at Ohiopyle in the article, which I saw a few days ago, that piqued my interest.
I got a call that I could see the mounds this past Tuesday so I jumped at the chance. But before going there I was to stop at Stonewall Jackson State Park.
Stonewall has several trails dedicated to stone mounds. One of them is named the Cairns Trails.
Here is a press release on the cairns trail, New Cairns Trail Links Past with Present at Stonewall Resort.
Kudo's to the state of West Virginia for preserving the stone cairns and building trails for people to see and experience them. Well Done!
Secondly, much of the mountainside that the Cairns Trail (areas C, D &E in the map below, in the upper center area) traverses is covered with stones marking energy formations such as Energy Lines. There are hundreds of such stones. All of this means that Stonewall is special and much of what was once there has been preserved. As a geomancer being able to dowse is critical to finding such stone formations and understanding what is going on. L-rods are an invaluable tool.

The Cairns Trail
Let me begin by saying that there is more to the Cairns Trail that meets the eye. Specifically, the vibe is positive to very positive in the area of the stone mounds. Anyone familiar with my work is well aware how much credence and importance I place on the vibe, or imprints, or memories left at a place. They are a barometer that a location was used for sacred purposes. More importantly we have a potential to create a new birth with Mother Earth--an energy vortex, a water dome...---EARTH MAGIC!Secondly, much of the mountainside that the Cairns Trail (areas C, D &E in the map below, in the upper center area) traverses is covered with stones marking energy formations such as Energy Lines. Right after entering the trail I came across this stone marking the intersection of 2 Energy Lines. You are facing downhill and the front of the stone has an upright shape to it. |
My staffs do not do justice to all these stones marking an Energy Lines. You are facing downhill |
Stone Mound. The front looks like a seat. |
This outlier stone mound marked the intersection of 4 Ley Lines |
Part II Stonewall/Ohiopyle Survey--Carrion Run West Cairn Fields
At the farther end of the Cairn Trail was an area called Carrion Run West Cairn Fields (area D in the upper center on the map on the previous page) containing 10 stone mounds. The vibe was better than any other place.
Part III Stonewall/Ohiopyle Survey--Stonewall's Earthen Mound
Raised mound with depressed center |
Staffs and seat cushion mark a water dome. The formation of a water dome is a strong indication that the area was used for ceremony. |
A short descent down the hill is a large row of Mantou stones marking Energy Lines. Unfortunately the vibe was not good. |

Part III Stonewall/Ohiopyle Survey--The Earthen Mound
At the entrance to Stonewall Jackson Park along Rte 19 is an earthen mound. There is speculation about whether it was manmade, or natural. I believe it was manmade. The edges of the flat top cover Earth Chakras. In other words if I wanted to built an earthen mound over Earth Chakras this is what it would look like. Secondly, there is a water dome underneath the earthen mound indicating that the area was used for ceremonial purposes.
I took the Overlook Trail to get there.

March 20, 2018 the first day of spring and I ran into a blizzard. I left just south of Morgantown, WVA with heavy rain. By the time I got to Ohiopyle Sate Park in southwestern PA snow was forming and beginning to stick, especially as I climbed in altitude.
There were two primary areas I looked at. Both very nice and impressive.
The first was a grouping of mounds. The majority of the mounds were stone piles with no particular form or structures. A few were located on Earth Chakras and had hallowed out centers which were more than 2 feet deep. They were in incredible shape and the pictures do not do them justice. Arguably they were more cylindrical in shape than a stone mound, or rock pile.

Part V Stonewall/Ohiopyle Survey--Ohiopyle State Park
The other sacred area of Ohiopyle State Park(PA) I surveyed contained two large stone mounds (10-15 feet in diameter) with large hollowed out centers that straddled a dirt road on a mountaintop. The vibe in the center areas was very positive--very nice. While the snow was piling up I could discern several supporting stones marking Energy Lines.
I was told that the view was spectacular. I imagine it was. I was able to capture it. The ridge upon which the stone mounds were located was narrow with steep sides. The wind from the blizzard was brutal and I had to cover my ears to keep from getting frostbite.
These were the stone mounds that piqued my interest and motivated to put this trip together. Check out these beauties,
Interesting that the hollowed out center was so large compared to other stone mounds. Usually when you find such a large dimpled area it is because of all the Earth Chakras (EC)--both large mounds only had 1 EC each; or all of the Energy Lines. Which makes me wonder was this circle used more for community like activities.
Here are my snowy versions.
Thanks to Jim Shaulis and Bruce King for braving the weather and driving on challenging dirt roads covered with 6 inches of snow and showing me the mounds .
I regret I did not have better conditions to observe the stone mounds at Ohiopyle. I also regret I did not have time to spread tobacco to show respect and honor the sacred stone mounds; or meditate while there. I did say a few prayers.
Ohiopyle(PA) like Stonewall Jackson (WVA) is an incredible place. The mounds have some of the best form I have found. The vibe was very positive in the center of the depressed mounds. There was ancillary supporting stones and I imagine much more to explore there.
It was a whirlwind 3 day trip. I had a great time and learned a lot. My knowledge of Early Woodland ceremonial sites has certainly expanded.
Blessings to the great souls that constructed all the stone mounds, standing stone, Manitou stones, platform stones and the wonderful vibe at the stone mounds (stone cairns) at Stonewall Jackson Resort (WVA) and Ohiopyle State Park (PA.) Thank you.
Blessings,

In the pictures above you can catch some of the view in the horizon. I imagine that pilgrims would do ceremony, meditate or just take in the majesty of place. Very Nice.

My staff in 1 ft increments show the hollowed out center to be almost 3 feet deep. I imagine it was originally much deeper as leaves and other debris over the millennia have raised its floor. |

20,000 Scientists have now signed letter on Climate Change
Per the UK's Independent
20,000 scientists give dire warning about the future in 'letter to humanity' – and the world is listening
The paper is now one of the most discussed scientific works ever and has been signed by a huge number of experts
A dire warning to the world about its future, which predicts catastrophe for humanity, is continuing to gain momentum.
The letter – which was first released in November – has now been signed by around 20,000 scientists. And the world seems to be listening: it is now one of the most discussed pieces of scientific research ever, and its publishers claim it is now influencing policy.

Gossamer Wood Purchase Price Set
Friends,
Bill Dewey has agreed to sell Gossamer Wood for $25,000, We estimate the cost to put in a parking area and other expenses to be about $5,000. So we need to raise $30,000.
In April we will begin having tours, open house/grounds, group meditations and other events for you to experience first hand the wonder of Gossamer. There will be a minimum donation to partake in these events. The grounds will only be opened for these events. Otherwise the grounds are closed to the public at this time.
We will also formalize and set up a Friends of Gossamer Wood support group. They will be responsible for the physical and spiritual maintenance of the grounds. They will be Earth Healers and Keepers of the sacred preserve. Instruction will be provided. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our Mother and raise your consciousness while serving. It was doing Keepers work and mediating in power Fields of Consciousness that hastened my spiritual transformation and got me closer to our Mother. If you are interested in learning more email me, madis senner, at motherearthprayers@gmail.com.
You can make an online tax-deductible donation on this blog, or at the www.gossamerwood.org website. Or you can send a check to, make it payable to Jubilee Initiative, at;
